On April 24, the Consulate General of China in Dubai successfully hosted an on-site lecture as part of the “From Campus to Consulate” initiative. Consul General Ou Boqian attended the event and delivered a keynote lecture titled “Chinese Modernization and China-UAE Relations.” Nearly 100 faculty members and students from the University of Sharjah’s International Relations Department and the Arabic Academy of Music participated in the event.

Consul General Ou opened her lecture by referencing popular Chinese cultural productions such as Nezha 2 and Black Myth: Wukong to illustrate contemporary expressions of Chinese identity. She then delivered a vivid and engaging presentation supported by extensive data, video footage, and images. Focusing on four core themes—the spirit of the Chinese people, Chinese modernization, China’s engagement with the world, and China-UAE relations—she offered a comprehensive overview of modern Chinese history, the reform and opening-up process, China’s development philosophy, and the significant achievements of Chinese modernization. She also reviewed the longstanding history of China-UAE friendship, emphasizing the fruitful outcomes of bilateral cooperation in various sectors and highlighting the mutually beneficial nature of the China-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership.

Consul General Ou underscored that China’s path of development has been firmly rooted in multilateralism, economic globalization, and the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind. She noted that the Chinese people have always demonstrated resilience and determination in the face of challenges—rising to every occasion with courage and resolve. In the current context of profound global transformation and complex regional dynamics, she expressed confidence that with mutual support and solidarity, China and UAE can seize new opportunities, overcome shared challenges, and further advance their comprehensive strategic partnership to deliver greater benefits to both nations and their peoples.

Consul General Ou responded to students’ questions on topics such as the U.S.’s unilateral tariff measures. She also offered words of encouragement to the youth, which were met with warm applause.

Following the lecture, attendees enjoyed a musical performance titled “New Silk Road,” featuring a cross-cultural ensemble of young musicians from the Arabic Academy of Music. Guests also engaged in hands-on experiences with traditional Chinese cultural arts, including tea ceremony, paper cutting, calligraphy, and porcelain wheel-throwing.
