in the Reception for the China-UAE 40th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations and the Dubai Forum

Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests,

Good evening, and welcome you all to the Reception.

Today, we gather here to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the UAE. As a major event of the celebration, Consulate-General of China in Dubai, together with China Public Diplomacy Association, Dubai Government Office of Media, and Dubai Chambers, co-organized a full-day Dubai Forum, which turned out to be a great success. Dubai Forum provides a comprehensive platform for us to share and exchange ideas, reviewing the past 40 years and looking forward to the shared future of our two countries. On behalf of the Consulate-General of China in Dubai and other co-organizers, I’d like to thank you all for your strong support.

Over the past 40 years, China and the UAE have maintained close high-level exchanges, upgrading our bilateral relations, deepening the strategic mutual trust, and supporting each other in international affairs. We have promoted high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, carrying out wide-ranging, in-depth practical projects with tangible outcomes. We have successfully expanded our bilateral trade, and our two economies are deeply integrated with each other. We have brought our peoples’ hearts together closer than ever, by promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges. 

China-UAE relations have set a good example for China-Arab states relations in the new era. This relation is rooted in the shared values of our two nations and peoples.

China and the UAE,are nations with self-confidence and self-reliance. We both have profound understandings of our national conditions and the international situation. We both adhere to independent foreign policies, making judgement on the real merit of matter concerned in international affairs, and taking the right path of promoting solidarity and cooperation.

China and the UAE, are nations with inclusiveness and creativity, while upholding our own fundamental principles and integrity. We both have a long history and rich cultural heritage, which give us confidence and persistence. While staying true to our core values, we also embrace the world with an open mind, seeking inspiration from different civilizations.

China and the UAE, are nations with great vitality. We have both found development paths suited to our respective national realities, achieving long-term social stability and rapid economic growth. In today’s world with turbulence and transformation,we have both made strategic plans for future development, demonstrating strong potential and sustainability, and contributing positive energy to the pursuit of a brighter future for humanity.

China and the UAE, are nations with people-oriented and foremost governance philosophy. President Xi Jinping has emphasized that, "People's aspiration for a better life is the direction of our mission." H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has noted, "A nation’s true wealth lies in the well-being of its citizens." We have both continuously promoted social progress, improved people's lives, and won the support and recognition of our people.

China and the UAE, are nations with strong dedication of world peace. In Chinese culture, peace has always been cherished, as the white color shown on the UAE flag. As the world is now undergoing profound changes, we both commit to fairness and justice, jointly uphold multilateralism, and explore new approaches of mutual respect and win-win cooperation among nations. 

These shared values have laid the foundation for the comprehensive strategic cooperation and mutually beneficial relationship between China and the UAE. Today, in the context of a changing international landscape, China and the UAE will more than ever work together in order to promote world and regional peace and development, to enrich our comprehensive strategic partnership, and to bring greater benefits to our nations and peoples.

We have all the confidence to believe that, under the strong guidance of our two heads of state, and with the joint efforts of our peoples, we will bring the China-UAE relations to new heights.

Now, may I ask you to join me for a toast, 

to the everlasting friendship between China and the UAE;

to the happiness and well-being of our two peoples;

to a more glorious future for our two nations!
