2021-05-11 19:23

On May 11, the Consulate General of China in Dubai hosted the 2021 Eid al-Fitr through video link for overseas Chinese. Consul General Li Xuhang attended the event and delivered a speech. Xu Xiaoping, Vice President and Secretary-General of the UAE All-China Federation, Tian Hengzhao, Chairman of the Federation of Overseas Chinese, Abulaiti, the Chairman of Xinjiang Chamber of Commerce, and over 20 other people including leaders of local overseas Chinese organizations and representatives of overseas Chinese students attended the event.

The leaders of overseas Chinese organizations at the meeting enthusiastically praised the Consulate General for leading the establishment of the joint prevention and control mechanism in the consular area, making important contributions to the solidarity of overseas Chinese in fighting the epidemic. They can feel the care for the overseas Chinese Muslim from the Consulate General who are well-known among overseas Chinese in West Asia and North Africa for holding events such as donating Iftar for years running, visiting overseas Chinese and celebrating traditional festivals. They expressed that under the leadership of the Consulate General, they would firmly maintain the unity of all ethnic groups and actively participate in the pursuit of the Belt and Road Initiative, contributing to the promotion of the China-UAE friendship and the bilateral development of economy and trade. Representatives of overseas Chinese students from Al Qasimia University thanked the Consulate General for its care for overseas Chinese students. Under the epidemic, among all the international students at Al Qasimia University from over 70 countries, only those from China were visited by their Consul General and received protective materials from him many times. This makes “Chinese students” a label to be proud of.

Li Xuhang, on behalf of the Consulate General in Dubai, extended sincere greetings and best wishes to the overseas Chinese in Dubai, and expressed heartfelt thanks to them for actively participating in the joint prevention and control mechanism and supporting the Consulate General’s effort in keeping the stability of foreign investment and trade and preventing imported cases.

Li Xuhang said that with the care and joint effort of the leaders of the two countries, the China-UAE relations will rise to a higher level. Facing the severe impact of Covid-19, the trade volume between China and the UAE still grew against the trend in 2020, indicating a promising prospect for the development of China-UAE cooperation. 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China as well as the first year of China’s "14th Five-Year Plan” period. It is also the 50th anniversary of the founding of the UAE. It is hoped that overseas Chinese will continue to carry forward patriotism, act as a bulwark to national unification and the unity of all ethnic groups, promote practical cooperation between the two countries, and contribute to building a harmonious overseas Chinese community. All of these will be written into the new chapter of post-epidemic era.

Li Xuhang also had comprehensive and in-depth exchanges with representatives at the event on issues such as strengthening prevention and control of Covid-19 outside China, helping overseas Chinese in difficulties, improving the service quality of the Consulate, and combating Internet fraud.
