On April 30, the Chinese Consulate General in Dubai celebrated Eid al-Fitr 2022 with the overseas Chinese in Dubai via a video link. Consul General Li Xuhang gave a speech. More than 20 overseas Chinese leaders, Muslim representatives and students attended the celebration, including the heads of the UAE Overseas Chinese Association and Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Qinghai and Xinjiang overseas Chinese groups in the UAE.

On behalf of the Chinese Consulate General in Dubai, Consul General Li Xuhang extended his sincere greetings and best wishes to the overseas Chinese in the consular district for Eid al-Fitr 2022. He said that the overseas Chinese groups including Chinese Muslims have made positive contributions to ethnic unity in the consular district, the health and happiness of Chinese citizens in Dubai and the local economic and social development. He thanked the overseas Chinese for their strong support to the Consulate General. They have engaged in the joint prevention, control, and protection mechanism to help the Consulate General to keep the “dual-stability” of foreign investment and trade and prevent imported COVID-19 cases to China. They have also contributed to the Belt and Road Initiative, the pandemic prevention and control and economic development of China.

Li Xuhang said that in a time of unprecedented global changes and a once-in-a-century pandemic, there are both challenges and opportunities. China and the UAE share the same development philosophy, and China-UAE relations over the next 100 years have a promising prospect. He hoped that the overseas Chinese in the UAE can stay patriotic and contribute Chinese wisdom to the development of both countries. He called on them to write a new chapter of development with unity in the post-pandemic era, and salute the upcoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in autumn with concrete actions.

Li Xuhang also had an in-depth exchange of views with the participants on issues of concern to the overseas Chinese community in Dubai, such as the pandemic prevention and control, assistance to overseas Chinese in need, improvement of the quality of consular services, and fight against crimes in the consular district. After listening to the participants’ opinions and suggestions, he said that the Consulate General will earnestly practise “diplomacy for the people” and continuously improve its ability to serve the overseas Chinese in the consular district and solve their pressing concerns.

During their enthusiastic remarks, the overseas Chinese leaders and students thanked the Consulate General for its care about the Chinese Muslims and students in the consular district. For years, the Consulate General donates iftar meals and holds Eid al-Fitr celebrations. These have made the overseas Chinese Muslims in the consular district feel cared for by the Party and the State, and boosted their national pride and confidence. They said that they will continue to safeguard ethnic unity under the leadership of the Consulate General despite all kinds of challenges, and contribute to friendship, trade and economic development and people-to-people exchanges between China and the UAE.
