Dr. Omar Al Muthanna highly appreciated the Consulate General’s donation and expressed his gratitude to Consul General Li Xuhang and the representatives of the overseas Chinese leaders for offering iftar meals at the labor camp. He said that such act of kindness can effectively relieve the living pressure of the disadvantaged people during Ramadan, and will enhance friendship between China and the UAE, bring the two peoples closer to each other. Ramadan donations from the Consulate General and overseas Chinese in Dubai hit a record high this year. This has fully reflected China's respect for local traditions and customs, and its strong support to the UAE’s pandemic prevention and control, economic recovery and development. The overseas Chinese in Dubai have selflessly helped the local low-income laborers, which is a vivid embodiment of the Dubai spirit of friendship, mutual assistance and tolerance.

Consul General Li Xuhang thanked the CDA and the overseas Chinese groups for their strong support to the event and extended his Ramadan wishes to Muslim friends. He said that the One Billion Meals initiative launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has been widely supported by all sectors of the community. The overseas Chinese in Dubai including students have enthusiastically engaged in the initiative to make donations. Dr. Muthanna and his children also attended the event. Such solidarity, mutual assistance and friendship are common values of all human beings. In a time of unprecedented global changes and a once-in-a-century pandemic, unity, cooperation, and mutual assistance for building a community with a shared future for mankind are needed more than ever before. For many years, the Chinese Consulate General in Dubai has organized Ramadan donation activities, aiming to provide help to local people in need, to spread warmth and confidence, and to enhance the friendship between China and the UAE. This year, the Consulate General, the Chinese enterprises, and the overseas Chinese including students in Dubai have donated iftar meals worth more than 200,000 dirhams, hitting a record high in recent years. As the pandemic is still surging, Li Xuhang hoped that the overseas Chinese and local laborers in Dubai can stay alert to the pandemic and strengthen personal protection so as to enjoy a happy, healthy and peaceful Ramadan. In the meantime, he hoped that everyone can take actions to help fight against the pandemic in order to win the victory in the battle.
