Consul General Li Xuhang Attends China-UAE Economic and Trade Digital Expo and Chengdu-UAE Digital Fair

On July 19, Consul General Li Xuhang attended the China-UAE Economic and Trade Digital Expo and Chengdu-UAE Digital Fair. This event was co-hosted by the CCPIT Chengdu, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Hala China Executive Committee. Wu Yi, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Consulate General, Liao Chengzhen, Deputy Secretary-General and Director of General Office of Chengdu Municipal Government, Feng Yaoxiang, Director of the Department for Trade and Investment Promotion under CCPIT, Mohamed Helal Al-Muhairi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Adel Ebrahim, member of Executive Committee of Hala China and attended the event.

Li Xuhang said in his speech that Dubai is a dazzling pearl in the Persian Gulf region. It is located at the intersection of the Belt and the Road and is a strategic partner for the joint pursuit of the Belt and Road Initiative. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, the UAE and Dubai governments have actively introduced various measures to fight the pandemic. Their testing rates and recovery rates are among the highest in the world. At the same time, in order to reduce the impact of the pandemic on economy, the UAE and Dubai governments have introduced a number of plans to stimulate the economy, preparing fully for the economic recovery in the post-pandemic period. Li emphasized that every crisis is an opportunity. Major opportunities for the transformation and upgrading of cooperation between China and the UAE and for the enhancement of quality and efficiency lie in the crisis of the COVID-19. Now is an opportune time for this event which is not only a new digital platform for the economic and trade cooperation between China and the UAE but also a useful exploration to upgrade the cooperation.

Li Xuhang said that Chengdu, the Land of Abundance, is an important commercial and logistics centre, high-tech industrial base and transportation hub in southwestern China. Being highly complementary in development plans, Chengdu and Dubai have broad prospects for cooperation. The Consulate General of China in Dubai will continue to provide good service and bridge the entrepreneurs of Chengdu and Dubai to add glory to the Land of Abundance and the Pearl of the Gulf.

Liao Chengzhen and Feng Yaoxiang respectively introduced the unique advantages of Chengdu and the work done by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in promoting China-UAE economic and trade cooperation. Mohamed Helal Al-Muhairi and Adel Ebrahim respectively introduced measures taken by the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Hala China Executive Committee to promote economic and trade exchanges between the UAE and China and between the UAE and other countries. They also expressed that against the current challenge imposed by the pandemic, their organizations are willing to work together with China to overcome the difficulties with confidence.
